Used in over 100 countries and in 11 langauges, SPT provides professional sports performance data that helps teams and players around the world reach success and beat their performance goals.
Keeping our players fit, healthy and prepared for game day is obviously our primary goal. The ability to monitor the intensity and volume of player training/playing loads can only help optimise team and player performance.
As an organisation, GPS monitoring is new to us, and it’s still early days but so far it’s all been positive. SPT is providing us with an effective and simple basis for doing this. Set up is simple and the software is easy to use with the Game Day real time monitoring, via Bluetooth and the GameTraka App, already proving to be a great player management tool for us.
Within the player group it has provided a means of inter-player competition and individual accountability. The metrics SPT gives us are simple to understand and are easily communicated both to the Players and the Coaching Staff. Thanks to SPT we’re looking forward to an INFORMED FUTURE.
We use SPT to gain valuable information to our players, particularly those in similar size and stature which also enables some healthy competition between the boys. SPT was first used during our premiership season in 2018. They certainly appreciated having access to the new technology and receiving that immediate feedback certainly put an edge on their opponents.
As a club, we have seen our players run harder and clock up higher work rates and appreciate the quality insights we are now receiving for each individual that wears the units.
Using SPT GPS Units gave us a huge advantage on our competition and a big part of our premiership success.
It allowed us to work closely with our players on their running and work rate data, monitor work loads during games and training and set up healthy competition between our players which continually drove us to become what we believed to be the fittest and most durable team in the competition.
Tracking our players has taken our clubs professionalism to the next level and we highly recommend SPT if you are looking to take the next step.
Our team invested in the GPS technology so we could effectively monitor the intensity and volume of our training sessions throughout the year. The technology allows us to optimize performance-training outcomes for both individuals and the team for the in-season, mid-season and off-season recovery period.
For the demands of all field-based sports outdoors, SPT has been fantastic in providing us with simple parameters that are easily communicated to coaches and players alike.
Being able to use SPT’s technology has enabled the Physiotherapists at Optimus Health to work closely with our Sports Science Team and help to reduce soft tissue injuries over the 2016/17 season. We have managed to use the GPS data to give feedback to coaches about important data and load variables, including acute-chronic ratios and flagging players when their loads are not in a ‘sweet spot’.
I decided to use SPT when I was preparing to return from a lower back injury. I had been trying to get back [into training] for a month or two after I was cleared, but every time I would begin to push myself, I would find that my back would begin to hurt. I realized that I was creating the problems by increasing my workload too soon.
I began researching companies and products that would allow me to see the results of my training sessions so that I could use the data to slowly progress back to full fitness. After reading and educating myself on the GPS device that SPT provides, I decided that the features offered at the price point was unmatched. It is extremely user-friendly and a great way to analyze data on a day-to-day basis. I continue to use the device throughout the off-season to monitor the workload and intensity of each training session so I can better take care of my body and prepare properly for the upcoming season.
St John’s Old Collegians FC have been using the SPT GPS units to gather training and match data on metres run per minute and high intensity running. This has allowed us to evaluate the quality of our training in relation to the intensities our players experience during games and adjust and improve how we train.
We also track total load during the week to manage our yearly macro cycle, enabling players to peak for important games and minimise significant increases in load, which may lead to a greater risk of injuries. Our players have really enjoyed seeing and using their data as motivation to improve.
The GPS units have been of a real benefit for us this season with all players in the 1st XVIII wearing them for each game. We have been able to track loads with a focus on sprint efforts and high speed running. It is no coincidence that there has been a strong correlation with work rate and good performance. It has been also interesting looking at the distance covered by our players in comparison to the different size of grounds we play on.
GameTraka has become an essential part of our football program. We dipped our toes in and started with 3 units but demand and interest from the players themselves soon saw us equipping the whole team. They have all both bought into the benefits as individuals but also the data is giving everyone a strong vision of expectations and possibility of results.
We have baseline figures for all positions now, expectations of efforts and performance levels that they can often see reflected in actual match results. The extra level of competition has encouraged the team to improve their personal best and prove that they deserve a starting spot. Using SPT has been fun for the players and also invaluable in their progression. Simple to use, reliable and, especially with the new “Report” feature great to share and analyze, I cannot envisage running a competitive team without the units ever again.
The SPT GPS devices have been an integral part of our club’s training and fitness programming this season. As the strength and conditioning coach of Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club this year, I have personally found the devices to be significantly beneficial.
The ability to monitor training and match day running data has allowed us to quantify workloads for both individual players and the team, and therefore use them to improve performance and reduce the risk of injury. The range of variables we can track is great for players to see and allows them to compare their work-rate to teammates playing in similar positions. For a team who finished 1 spot from relegation last year, we have now finished 3rd this year and are playing finals; it would be safe to say that the SPT GPS have considerably aided our improvement.
The Cranbourne FC in the South East Football Netball League have been using SPT GPS technology for the past three years to monitor and track player movement and intensity. We have been using SPT on our midfielders to help them understand the high-end gut running that is required during their matches.
We are able to compare their GPS results to those of a VFL midfielders, this helps the Cranbourne boys set high benchmarks which leads to an increase in performance. We mainly look at the total distance that our midfielders run and the Zone 6 metres that they gain. I would recommend SPT to any football team based on the fact that it is a great tool from an education point of view and it gives the players a good understanding of where they need to be.
We bought 10 of the units for our football club here at the Koondrook/Barham Raiders and used them for the first time on Saturday. The results were amazing, not only could we assess total distance, it shows running patterns and top speed. A bonus that comes with the players wearing the GPS units is that they knew they couldn't hide as their running efforts were being recorded.
As the coach of the Phillip Island Football Club I have found the SPT GPS tracking devices to be an essential tool in our continued improvement. It has enabled us to monitor players' individual progress over our pre-season and now the benefits we are getting on match day data is incredible.
It has helped running patterns for players and they are getting the exact feedback they have been craving. We have become the number one defensive side in our competition after sitting at number 8 in the competition last season. I believe the data that we have been able to secure and show our players have been a contributor to this.
